Job Summary:
The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems related to home backup generators. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing electrical work in compliance with local and national electrical codes. The Journeyman Electrician will work closely with the pre-installation team, ensuring safe and efficient installations for residential and light commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule inspections and meet inspector onsite to review electrical work.
  • Schedule power disconnects with utility companies.
  • Review jobs and assemble all necessary material for the job in advance of installation.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and components for residential generator systems.
  • Perform electrical work in accordance with NEC (National Electric Code) and local regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues related to generators and associated systems.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Opeerations and Pre-Installation Team to ensure proper scheduling and completion of projects.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Complete daily inspections, including testing and documenting electrical systems for proper installation and functionality.
  • Maintain clean and safe job sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and electrical blueprints.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and provide on-call support as needed.
  • Train and mentor apprentices or entry-level electricians as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, service teams, and customers to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
Qualifications:

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably with generator systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with electrical tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with home backup generators (installation, repair, and maintenance).
  • OSHA or other safety certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and on ladders.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Work Hours:

Full-time, Monday to Friday with occasional on-call or overtime required based on project demands.
