Dunbar Community Counseling Services is looking to hire a Mobile Therapist to work in West and Southwest Philadelphia.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This master’s level mental health professional provides child-centered, family-focused psychotherapy using a variety of strengths-based modalities as described in the child’s treatment plan. The services may be provided in the school setting when the interagency team determines this to be the most appropriate setting. The mobile therapist can, within the scope of this role, meet with the teacher or principal to gather information or coordinate treatment, and can develop behavioral approaches for use in the school, so long as this function has been agreed upon by the treatment team.

Essential and Core Functions:
Specific responsibilities of the Mobile Therapist (MT) in the school setting include the following:
  • Provision of psychotherapy at times that are least disruptive to the child’s home/educational schedule.
  • Collaboration with the family, other adults working with the child in the school, and school personnel (especially teachers who have the most direct contact with the child) in developing daily routines which will enhance the treatment approach indicated in the treatment plan.
  • Collaboration with the family, other adults working with the child in the school, and school personnel in the development and implementation of a crisis plan.
    • Mobile therapy services consist of individual therapy, family therapy, development and revision of the ITP, assistance with crisis stabilization, and assistance with addressing problems the child, youth, or young adult has encountered. Mobile Therapist shall provide only the following service:
  • Individual therapy.
  • Family therapy.
  • Assessment of the strengths and therapeutic needs of the child, youth or young adult and family or caregiver.
  • ITP development.
  • Assistance with crisis stabilization.
  • Assistance with addressing problems the child or young adult has encountered.

Organizational Accountability and Relationship:
  • To be supervised by the Clinical Supervisor, Administrative Director, Clinical Director, and CEO.
  • Conduct individual supervision
  • Engage in training support, as needed.
  • Participate in monthly peer supervision.
  • Provide clinical support to clients and assist the treatment team in securing services.

Competencies and Personal Characteristics:
  • Strong written skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:
  • Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or clinical social worker.
  • Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a social worker or a behavior specialist [with] and have a graduate degree that required a clinical or mental health direct service practicum from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or have an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency.
  • Have a [graduate degree in psychology, social work, education or related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and a] minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree with at least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work or counseling from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency.
  • Have an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services and a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency.
  • Completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree with a least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or have an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency.
  • Valid child Abuse, criminal history, CPR/ First Aid and FBI clearances.
  • Master Degree, Licensed psychologist, LPC, LCSW or LMFT or BSL or LSW with graduate degree psychology, social work, education, or counseling.
  • 1-year full-time experience.
