 Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician
The ECMH Clinician will provide mental health services to children aged 0-6 years and their families, using evidence-based practices, including play therapy and trauma-focused interventions. This role offers a variety of work settings, including in-office, in-home, in-community, and telehealth environments, with opportunities for professional development under the supervision of a fully licensed clinical director.

This position is a contract role with competitive hourly compensation based on licensure and experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct mental health services, including diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and individual and group psychotherapy for children with a broad range of mental health conditions and developmental challenges.
  • Plan and present age-appropriate, play-based interventions to address emotional and developmental needs.
  • Maintain professional and detailed client records, including progress notes and other required documentation, in compliance with OMHAS standards.
  • Offer crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and referral services as needed.
  • Collaborate with community partners, including schools, pediatricians, and other professionals, to provide consultation and ensure cohesive care for clients.
  • Conduct regular in-person and telehealth sessions, scheduling to meet client and program needs.
  • Stay updated on and adhere to the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board regulations and professional ethical guidelines.
Core Competencies:
  • Ability to establish rapport, develop trust, and build collaborative working alliances with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in delivering age-appropriate interventions and services to children aged 0-6 years.
  • Familiarity with counseling and psychotherapy techniques, including play therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Skilled in assessing and managing suicidal or homicidal risks and creating management plans.
  • Awareness of mental health crises and the ability to identify signs of exacerbation or decompensation in mental illnesses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within diverse teams and client populations.
  • Commitment to ethical practice in accordance with professional codes of conduct.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education and Licensure:
    • Bachelor's degree in social work with Ohio LSW, or
    • Master’s degree in counseling or social work with licensure as LISW, LISW-S, LPC, LPCC, or LPCC-S.
    • Candidates enrolled in Pipeline’s Internship Program may qualify if registered as a Counselor or Social Worker Trainee.
  • Experience (Preferred):
    • 1-2 years of verifiable experience in counseling or psychotherapy with children and adolescents.
    • Background in child development, developmental disabilities, and trauma-informed care.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Valid Ohio driver’s license with fewer than four (4) points and current automobile insurance meeting state requirements.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, legal advocates, and community support specialists.
Compensation:
  • $50 to $60 per hour (or higher), based on licensure and experience, for direct service hours.
  • This is a contract position and does not include medical or other benefits.
