GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY  Metrology technician provides in-depth technical and procedural advice for repair, calibration, and modification of a wide variety of complex precision measurement equipment utilized for assigned program.  SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure a safe working environment.
  • Programs Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and vision inspection system, receives and measures products of various sizes and geometric orientations, for new product launch, support in investigation of Customer issues, and as needed for improvements of the manufacturing process.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, including conventional product characteristics, orientation of assemblies consisting of multiple components, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Able to instruct or explain to others requirements as specified by blueprints.
  • Maintains calibration program of standard measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, part-specific checking aids), tracking and ensuring current valid status, and manages distribution of measurement tools to the Production floor, including ordering or securing measurement tools as needed to support. Able to instruct others in their appropriate usage and care.
  • Assists Quality Engineers in creation of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements verifying various elements of product conformance for new products, by following a set workflow process, and issues affecting current Production parts.
  • Familiarity or experience in a manufacturing environment serving vehicle manufacturing industries is a plus.
  • Other duties, tasks or projects as assigned in support of problem solving, Quality and Continuous improvement activities.

 EDUCATION REQUIRED High School Diploma or GED

 EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Computer skills-data base (SAP), Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
 Statistical data experience preferred.  Proven track record in similar type of position. Must have knowledge of total manufacturing process and demonstrate continued improvement of operations.
