Job Title: Machinist - Fabricator

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machinist with extensive expertise in manual lathe and mill operations, combined with a strong background in metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess a keen understanding of machining principles, fabrication techniques, and the ability to follow complex technical drawings to produce precise components. This role is essential in ensuring the production of high-quality parts and supporting custom fabrication projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate manual lathes and mills to manufacture precision parts based on technical drawings and specifications.
  • Set up and adjust machines, including tool selection, workpiece alignment, and determining appropriate machine settings for optimal results.
  • Interpret and apply engineering blueprints, work orders, and other technical documents to ensure accurate machining and fabrication.
  • Utilize fabrication equipment, such as welders, grinders, and saws, to assist in producing custom metal parts and assemblies.
  • Inspect completed parts using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot machining and fabrication issues and continuously improve processes.
  • Assist with custom fabrication projects by cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components according to job specifications.
  • Support efforts to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize productivity across the shop.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of machining experience.
  • Hands-on experience in metal fabrication, including welding, cutting, and grinding.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques such as proper speeds, feeds, and cutting tools.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to ensure part accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-paced production environment.
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and producing high-quality results.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial chemicals.
