Who We Are Looking For: Derby Recreation Commission (DRC) Personal Trainers are under the direct supervision of the Fitness Coordinator. Our Trainers are responsible for developing and teaching training programs tailored to client fitness goals, assessing and updating client goals, creating exercise routines tailored to their needs, and monitoring their progress. DRC Personal Trainers should be a strong communicator, offering helpful instruction in a positive environment, and inspiring clients to improve their physical health through exercise. Essential Job Functions (in order of importance):
  • Coordinate and develop a fitness program as scheduled with their clients.
  • Keep accurate records of training sessions provided.
  • Carry out all duties assigned by the Fitness Programs Coordinator relating to the program.
  • Insure that facilities and equipment are properly maintained and assure proper order after a training session.
  • Must be available throughout the day, depending on client and facility needs.
  • Carry out all duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Attend all training and workshops assigned by Fitness Programs Coordinator.
 Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 and older and have a valid driver's license. 
  • Should have proper knowledge of exercise programs. 
  • Should be energetic and proficient in the promotion of a progressive fitness program. 
  • Should maintain certification in CPR/AED and be a Certified Personal Trainer. 
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check. 
 EDUCATION: High School diploma preferred. EXPERIENCE: Some personal training experience is preferred.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to demonstrate a range of exercises for participants and administer Adult CPR and first aid.
