Job Summary:

The IT Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all digital and computer-related activities within NORCAL Ambulance. This role involves determining the technological needs of NORCAL administrative operations and ambulance services and making strategic decisions on hardware and software options to fulfill these needs efficiently. The successful candidate will ensure that our IT infrastructure supports NORCAL's overall objectives and meets the specific regulatory demands of emergency medical services operations and regulatory requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Hire and organize training for other IT staff.
  • Allocate IT team members to projects based on priorities and skillsets.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Mentor and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with department heads, end-users, IT vendors, and other stakeholders to evaluate computing and system requirements.
  • Develop and communicate IT goals, policies, and procedures to align with company objectives.
  • Recommend and oversee the implementation of software and hardware upgrades to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Manage data backup, system security, and user support processes to ensure reliability and security of IT services.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and integrate relevant innovations into our IT strategy.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to end-users, ensuring high levels of customer service and operational continuity.
  • Prepare and present reports on IT operations and project progress to senior management.
  • Oversee the IT operational budget, ensuring effective use of resources and cost-efficient procurement of technology solutions.
  • Includes frequent travel to various company locations and vendor sites to oversee IT implementations and collaborations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the organization’s objectives.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software. Hands on experience working with Azure, PowerApps, PowerAutomate, SharePoint and Office365.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and operations, enabling efficient and scalable solutions for business needs.
  • Deep understanding of computer and information systems principles, including network infrastructure, data management, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Well-versed in the best practices of cloud governance, security, and compliance.
  • Must have hands-on experience in implementing security measures, setting up access controls, and monitoring IT systems and cloud environments to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a proven track record of leading IT projects to successful completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a healthcare or emergency services environment.

Language Ability:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. 
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Travel Requirements:
  • This position requires frequent travel to company sites throughout Northern California and other vendor locations to manage IT projects and partnerships effectively.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift to 15 pounds occasionally for IT equipment installation and maintenance tasks.
