Dominican Village is a not-for-profit, senior living community and assisted living residence founded in 1992 by the sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, New York. 

Our mission is to provide a supportive environment in which the sacredness of life and the dignity of each person are held in the highest regard and to offer its residents a choice of programs and services which foster independence, promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, and maximize opportunities for socialization.

We are currently looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our housekeeping team as a Housekeeper. The Housekeeper will be responsible for performing general housekeeping duties in resident suites, common areas and support areas as assigned, while meeting and exceeding Dominican Village standards.  
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • All work and employee interaction among themselves will be carried out in a manner that is reflective of the values of Dominican Village. This includes respect for the dignity of each person and a commitment to a continuance of independence of the residents, fostering quality of life with growth and interaction, respect for the rights of residents to privacy and choices, and ensuring a secure and welcoming environment. 
  • Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific tasks in accordance with daily assignments and established procedures. 
  • Maintains work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner. 
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and in the use of equipment and supplies. 
  • Cleans/polishes furnishings, fixtures, ledges, heating/cooling units in apartments/units, recreational areas, offices, etc. as instructed. 
  • Cleans, washes, sanitizes bathroom fixtures, etc. 
  • Cleans floors/carpeting appropriately and puts up CAUTION/SAFETY signs when necessary. 
  • Reports all hazardous conditions to the supervisor. 
  • Cleans and stores equipment properly at the end of the shift. 
  •  Follows established fire/safety and evacuation policies and procedures. 
  • Reports all accidents/incidents to the Director of Housekeeping. 
  • Honors the residents' personal and property rights and turns in all found articles to the supervisor. 
  • Assists with personal laundry and bed making if and when necessary. 

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One year experience in housekeeping.
  • Able to deal with difficult customers and diffuse situations.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.

Salary Range: $16 hourly.

Weekly schedule:
  • Sunday - Thursday | 7am - 3pm.
