Diesel Mechanic

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- The ideal candidate can do mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Basic knowledge of operating equipment (Forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.)
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; and completing as-needed procedures.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, and adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and calling for extensive and complex repairs.
- Contains costs by using a warranty, evaluating service, and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; and verifying receipts.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Complete housekeeping duties in the assigned area or project area daily and/or when required.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Complete required papers.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
- HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two to five years of proven fleet mechanic experience is preferred.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, thoroughness, and interpersonal skills.
- Hydraulic equipment experiences preferred.
