Family Caregiver CoordinatorBuffalo Trace Area Development District is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Family Caregiver Coordinator. The Buffalo Trace Caregiver Coordinator works with the National Family Caregiver Program and the Kentucky Caregiver Program. The position is responsible for ensuring that family caregivers receive appropriate, comprehensive, and timely services to meet the caregiver's needs as identified in the assessment process. Caregivers include grandparents raising grandchildren as well as those caring for someone over the age of 60. Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Identifying service needs, resources, and barriers as they relate to grandparents raising grandchildren and family caregivers of someone over the age of 60.
- Providing technical assistance to contractors and other providers relative to services pertaining to the National and Kentucky Caregiver Programs.
- Providing assessments, support, training, and/or family consultation to caregivers via any means or modality that works for the grandparent or caregiver.
- Developing, facilitating, and promoting support groups for family caregivers as well as grandparents raising grandchildren. Support groups can be provided in conjunction with community partners.
- Assisting in establishing resource linkages among partner agencies to ensure accessibility and coordination of program efforts.
- Facilitating community awareness of available services through public meetings, media presentations, correspondence, personal contact, and workshops.
- Preparing and delivering formal and informal presentations in a public environment.
Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in human services, social work, or a related field; experience in developing and implementing health and human service-related programs; or any combination of training and experience that meets the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the concepts, theories, and practices of human service planning.
- Ability to provide technical assistance to local officials and other staff in the areas of program development and implementation.
- Ability to write and speak effectively; working knowledge of research methods; ability to conduct independent investigations and studies and to analyze and utilize results.
- Skill in the interpretation of local, state, and federal directives, guidelines, and laws.
- Ability to prepare plans in a neat, concise, and accurate manner.
- Ability to make and verify arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy.
- General knowledge of financial management.
- Ability to use computers as part of everyday work.
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- Ability to make sound judgments.
Special Position Requirements:Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Potential for some travel required for this position.
