If you're looking for a role that values your skills and dedication, IPS is where you’ll thrive. Responsibilities & Expectations: The Utility Operator is responsible for preparing transformers for painting by sanding them with a dual action orbital sander. This position requires the use of a respirator and includes forklift operation training. The Utility Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring that all transformers are prepped and finished to quality standards.
  • Sand transformers using a dual action orbital sander.
  • Wear and properly maintain safety equipment, including a respirator.
  • Operate a forklift as needed (training provided).
  • Scrape old stickers off transformers to prepare for painting.
  • Tape off areas that do not require painting to ensure precision.
  • Apply body filler and rust prevention products to damaged or worn surfaces.
  • Perform stenciling on transformers as needed.
  • Place and install data tags and stickers.
  • Assist in the installation of 3-phase cabinets.
  • Replace transformer parts as necessary.
 Qualifications and Competencies: 
  • Previous experience in sanding or similar manual labor roles.
  • Familiarity with body fillers and rust prevention materials.
  • Experience with forklift operation.
  • Ability to wear a respirator during work hours.
  • Willingness to be trained in forklift operation.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment, such as orbital sanders.
  • Attention to detail for prep work, such as taping and stenciling.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to handle tasks involving standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Previous experience in sanding or similar manual labor roles.
  • Familiarity with body fillers and rust prevention materials.
  • Experience with forklift operation.
