Position: Teacher Assistant
Classification: Salary
Reports to: Director/Teacher Leader
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:15-1:15 and occasional events outside regular classroom hours

About the Role:
In this rewarding position, you will play a vital role in supporting our Lead Teacher to create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment for our vibrant classroom of 2-4 year olds. Working hand-in-hand with the Lead Teacher, you will provide individualized care and attention to all children, fostering their social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development through engaging play-based activities.

Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in setting up and preparing the classroom for daily activities and learning experiences.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized learning environment throughout the day. Follow our handbook.
  • Help with transitions between activities and routines, maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere.
  • Set up the classroom in August including the bulletin board and monthly theme.
  • Participate in a rotating schedule of duties-art projects and other activities diaper changes, bathroom breaks, circle time, snack time, general classroom and playground supervision, lunch set up/clean up.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of room, toys, tables, and surfaces.
  • Keep a consistent headcount of students throughout the day.

Child Development & Learning:
  • Engage directly with children through play-based activities, storytelling, and exploration, following the
  • Lead Teacher's lesson plans and curriculum.
  • Provide age-appropriate guidance and support to help children develop social skills, independence, and self-care skills.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in observing and assessing children's progress.

Communication & Collaboration:
  • Build positive relationships with children, fostering a sense of trust and belonging.
  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher/Director and parents/guardians, providing updates on children's progress and needs.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to maintain a consistent approach to diapering and toileting routines.
  • Greet students and their families by name.

Professional Development:
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices for working with young children, including diapering and toileting procedures.
  • Take advantage of in-classroom opportunities to develop skills leading group activities with children.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (CDA or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred)
  • 3+ years experience with children ages 2-4 or Minimum of 1+ year experience working in a childcare center or preschool.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with young children.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • High energy level and a positive attitude.
  • Accepted background check.
  • Authorized to work in the United States, with required documents for Form I-9, Negative TB Card, HIV/AIDS workshop completion, current CPR and First Aid pediatric certificate.
  • Signed acknowledgment of reading, understanding, and agreeing to comply with Personnel Handbook and Staff/Children Health and Safety Policies.
