Screed Operator

An asphalt screed operator is a highly skilled position involving control and operation of the screed on the asphalt paving machine. Here are some key responsibilities for this role:
Job Planning and Coordination:

• The screed operator collaborates with the foreman or paver operator to plan the job.
• They walk and mark the plan, measure out passes, and determine material yield from truckloads.
• Keeping track of the trucking schedule and maintaining a steady job pace are essential.

Quality Control:

• The screed operator monitors various aspects of job quality, including the mat, edges, joints, and overall performance.
• They ensure consistent joints between paver passes and maintain proper screed adjustments.
• Additionally, they assist with handwork as needed.

Equipment Operation:

• Operating the asphalt screed to apply asphalt per plan and quality specifications is a primary duty.
• The screed operator works closely with the crew superintendent to meet daily schedules and estimates.

The role is critical in achieving a smooth and well-constructed asphalt surface
