As a veterinary technician at our practice, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working closely with our team to provide comprehensive support and assistance.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collecting blood (jugular and leg draws), stool, urine or tissue samples for testing
  • Performing laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, heartworm tests, feline leukemia tests and blood counts
  • Ability to place catheters
  • Performing Radiographs with proper technique and positioning
  • Sterilizing instruments and equipment
  • Perform dental scaling and polishing
  • Preparing animals for surgery
  • Monitoring animals under anesthesia
  • Asking probing questions about the reason for a client’s visit
  • Recording case history, weight, temperature and other details
  • Safely restrain and stabilize animals during examination and treatment
  • Trimming nails, expressing anal glands, removing sutures and performing other routine procedures
  • Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian
  • Providing basic education on animal care, nutrition and medical conditions
  • Teaching clients how to administer medicines at home
  • Recommending products for optimal wellness, such as vitamins, supplements, dental cleaning, heartworm/flea control, geriatric care and dietary measures
  • Preparing and labeling medications to be sent home with the patient

Experience in any of the following is a plus:
  • Maintain animal records and billing information using Cornerstone Management Software
  • Clean and organize examination rooms
  • Order, organize, label and restock supplies and pet foods
  • Answer phones
  • Schedule appointments
  • Greet customers
  • Prepare invoices
  • Discharge patients
  • Follow up with clients

Requirements:
  • To thrive in this role, you should have at least 2 years of experience in the exotic veterinary industry.
  • While licensure or certification is desired, it's not mandatory—we're more interested in your passion, dedication, and willingness to learn.
