Historic Rail to Trail though Idaho and Montana

Lookout Pass maintains and operates the Route of the Hiawatha. This is a Nationally acclaimed Rail-to-Trail path that follows the abandoned Milwaukee RR grade between the historic old townsite of Taft, MT, and Pearson, ID. There are several tunnels and trestles to pass through and go over. This is a wonderful family friendly bike ride in beautiful Northern Idaho.

Northern Idaho, on the Montana boarder, right on Interest 90.

Help Guests on the Scenic Route of the Hiawatha

  • If you like being outside, biking and solving problems, Trail Marshals work throughout the trail helping guests with questions, bike problems, and shuttles back to Roland. 
  • Trail Marshalls will be expected to give orientations to guests as they arrive at the East Portal Trail Head, help load and unload bikes, help size and set up delivered rental bikes to guests, check and sell trail tickets, fix minor bike problems, and assist Bike Patrol in first aid. Tools for repairs, training, and bikes will be provided. 
  • Trail Marshals work as a team and independently to keep the guests moving along the trail.  
  • Good commutation skills, and independent work ethic. the ability to do physical tasks like lifting 50 lbs and biking 16 miles or more a day are a must for members of the Trail Marshal Staff.
