Type: Part Time, Exempt

Compensation: Clinical Hours - $45.00 - $50.00/hr

Non-Clinical Hours: $28.00 - $30.75/hr.

ECREC is seeking a Part-time Occupational Therapist (OTR) who will work with our Medical Rehabilitation team to responsible for assessment, planning, consultation, and delivery of therapy services as designated by his/her supervisor and consistent with the philosophy of the Company. Performs clinical services and procedures that require knowledge of an advanced type in the field of occupational therapy and the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment. The Occupational Therapist is directly accountable to the Director of Rehabilitation Services (Medical).

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Connecticut.
  • Evidence of participation in continuing education programs or their equivalent within the past two years.
  • Ability to speak English, read and write English in a legible and understandable manner, and to write and prepare necessary reports and documentation.
  • Ability to hear and communicate with staff, patients, and family members. Ability to hear normal sounds with some background noises.
  • Ability to visually comprehend information presented on a computer screen, written reports, etc. Ability to see objects closely.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to understand and apply training and education.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress and to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to manage patients under stressful conditions such as patients who are abusive, incoherent, incontinent, medically unstable, or have language difficulties.
  • Ability to maneuver patients utilizing ergonomic positioning. Position to include ability to walk, stand, and frequently push/pull/lift objects. The ability to use guiding techniques with medium to heavy patients.
  • Ability to perform various executive functioning tasks such as moderately difficult manipulative and hand-eye coordination tasks, concentrate on fine detail with interruption, attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time, understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts, and the ability to remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the effects of disease, injury, or congenital disorders of assigned patients to determine the effects of deficits on their function.
  • Develop and administer an appropriate treatment plan of care for assigned patients, including appropriate functional outcome goals, short term goals, and treatment durations and frequencies.
  • Comply with requirements of the Company for written evaluation, progress, and discontinuation reports.
  • Prepare and participate in team meetings, staff meetings and in-service sessions.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Keep informed regarding current developments in own and allied fields.
  • Review, keep current in one’s knowledge of, and comply with all Company policies and procedures. Employee acknowledges that (a) the Company will attempt to provide written notice as soon as possible when policies and information are revised or changed; (b) it may not be possible to print revisions and distribute changes to employees on a timely basis when changes or revisions occur rapidly or with little notice; and c) nevertheless, the employee is subject to the most recent revisions in policies and procedures.
  • Review, keep current in one’s knowledge of, and comply with all Company policies and procedures established in the Employee Handbook. Employee acknowledges that it is not feasible to continuously print revisions and distribute changes to employees; but the employee is nevertheless subject to the most recent revisions in policies and procedures.
  • Review, keep current in one’s knowledge of, and comply with all relevant accreditation standards, as established by Company accreditation goals and one’s professional discipline.
  • Review, keep current in one’s knowledge of, and comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), including all relevant federal regulations and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Director of Rehabilitation Services (Medical).
  • Review, keep current in one’s knowledge of, and comply with the Company’s Compliance Plan.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards when interacting with clients, staff, colleagues, referral sources, and the community at large.
