We are currently seeking a Lead Controls Engineer for a permanent position with a reputable Machine Builder located in the Grand Rapids, MI area. Similar positions are also available in Holland and Kalamazoo. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and engaging projects within the automation industry, with approximately 10% travel required.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide electrical solutions for robot automation, process, assembly, welding, and material handling equipment.
  • Design and program PLC and HMI software to meet project requirements.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and modify automation machines, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Assist with start-up and provide technical support throughout project lifecycles.
  • Act as a Project Engineer, overseeing entire systems from inception to completion.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred; Associates degree or relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in programming PLCs and HMIs; all levels of Controls Engineering experience are welcome.
  • Robotics programming experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley and Siemens systems preferred; SCADA experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical is beneficial.
  • Experience integrating robotics, vision systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
  • Must be a US Citizen or possess a Green Card.

  • Hourly rate: $40 - $55/hour, depending on experience.
