R&D Maintenance Services, Inc. – Black Warrior Tombigbee Waterway R&D Maintenance Services, Inc. provides operations and maintenance services on U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects throughout the southeast - since 1980. We are the Operations and Maintenance Contractor for the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway Project providing machinery and facility maintenance and repair on nearly 200 miles of waterway and 9 locks/dams/spillways on the system. Position is based in Tuscaloosa, AL. R&D is an EEO Employer.NATURE OF WORK:Assists with the maintenance, repair, and installation of a full range of electrical distribution systems, industrial electrical equipment, CCTV/Low voltage equipment, and wiring installation, testing, commissioning, and repair in interior and exterior locations across various project locations. ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
- Assist with the installation cameras, network switches, antennas, low voltage wiring and fiber in exterior and interior locations.
- Assist with or perform anchoring/mounting of equipment, racks, junction boxes, etc.
- Assist with or perform connections of industrial medium voltage wiring, RS232/485, Twisted Pair, Cat5/6e, fiber, etc.
- Assist with or perform pulling of electronic cable for the basic wiring and installation of electrical distribution or electrical hardware.
- Assist with or perform cutting, bending, and installing EMT, rigid, flex, and weathertight conduit and conduit boxes.
- Assist with or perform installation of junction boxes, cable traye, equipment in racks and cabinets, etc.
- Assist with or perform installations of systems and equipment including motors, limit switches, safety devices, displays, cameras, enclosures, racks, control systems, and AV signal routing and processing equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems, electrical equipment, CCTV and access systems and components.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques used in the industrial electrical trade including distribution systems, control systems, and CCTV/Low Voltage systems.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Knowledge of and ability to read and understand drawings and schematics
- Ability to plan and schedule multiple tasks and effectively prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior; including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines.
- Ability to properly and safely use/operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic test equipment
- High School Diploma or formal training in electrical or electronic work.
- Must have two (2)) years of experience in industrial electrical work
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass a background, motor vehicle license, and pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
- Frequent walking and standing; frequent
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional pulling up to 20 pounds;
- Frequently climbing ladders and working at heights; working from aerial work platforms.
- Frequent use of power and hand tools;
- Frequent balancing, kneeling, reaching (full range) bending, handling, feeling, climbing, twisting; occasional crawling and reaching; working in cramped and confined spaces;
- Vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.
