North Pinellas Children’s Medical Center (NPCMC) is seeking to expand the integration and delivery of behavioral health services within its pediatric setting. As part of the Children’s Mental Health Initiative (CMHI), a countywide collective, NPCMC is seeking an experienced licensed mental health clinician to join its specialized multidisciplinary team. Accepted licenses include LCSW, LMHC, and LMFT.This position will contribute to an innovative, high quality service delivery system designed to increase access and coordinate care for pediatric patients. Key functions of this position include screening, assessment and brief counseling interventions for children and adolescents served by NPCMC. The ideal candidate will have experience providing clinical care in a variety of settings and be familiar with local services and resources. This position offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
The CMHI Behavioral Health Therapist will be responsible for providing patient-centered behavioral health services. This includes mental health assessments, diagnosis, intervention, and therapeutic management to pediatric patients at North Pinellas Children's Medical Center. The therapist works in collaboration with the physicians, nurses, and behavioral health team, using their skills to help children and their families address psychosocial and behavioral problems related to and impacting their health.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adheres to current, applicable evidence-based clinical guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice and remains current with license specific continuing education requirements.
  • Completes mental health and psychosocial assessments as part of the diagnostic evaluation. 
  • Provides therapeutic counseling based on individual and family need.
  • Provides crisis intervention as necessary. 
  • Helps patients and families understand how chronic conditions impact their lives and how to address barriers to care. 
  • Helps patients/families adjust to changes and transitions in life including grief, traumatic experiences, and changes in family dynamics.
  • Assists patients and families in communicating with one another, and to members of health care team. 
  • Educates patients on available community resources in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Care Coordinator. 
  • Provides referrals for services both within and outside of NPCMC that may be needed to address patient conditions. 
  • Provides in-service presentations to health care team members.
  • Develops and implements group educational programs for parents/caregivers on behavioral health topics such as positive parenting, social skills, ADHD, and anxiety.
  • Promotes communication and collaboration among health care team members.
  • Participate in the CMHI Centralized Oversight Committee.
  • Responsible for following the most current workflow of the CMHI Team.
  • Collaborate with all NPCMC staff to enhance clinical pathways in support of behavioral health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Ability to delegate.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate and enter data into an electronic health record.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Word.
  • Maintain clinical licensure and seek continuing education on behavioral health topics.
  • Successfully pass a Level II Background Screening and sign Affidavit of Good Moral Character.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Masters Degree or higher in Psychology or Social Work from an accredited university.
  • Licensed in Florida to independently practice as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). 
  • Experience working with children and adolescents strongly encouraged.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs appreciated.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION: 
  • Current, unrestricted Florida licensure as LCSW or LMHC. 
  • Current BLS Certification.
