Duties
As a Prep Cook, your main responsibility will be to assist the kitchen team in preparing food items for cooking and serving. You will work closely with the chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure that all ingredients are properly prepped and ready for use. Your duties will include:
- Cutting, chopping, and peeling vegetables and fruits
- Measuring and weighing ingredients
- Preparing sauces, dressings, and marinades
- Seasoning and marinating meats, poultry, and seafood
- Preparing doughs, batters, and other basic recipes
- Assisting with food plating and presentation
- Cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment
Experience
To be successful in this role, you should have some experience in a food preparation or kitchen assistant role. The following skills and qualifications are required:
- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques
- Familiarity with food handling and safety guidelines
- Ability to follow recipes accurately
- Strong attention to detail
- Good knife skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food industry setting is preferred but not required. If you have worked as a dietary aide or in catering, it can also be beneficial.
