Department:                 Plant Operations/LaboratoryWork Schedule:           Regularly scheduled Monday – Friday Day shift. Must be available for overtime work and/or on a call‐in basis as required. Plant is operational 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.Location:                     Production facility in Sutherland, NebraskaFLSA Status:               Exempt            Hourly or Salary:         Salary               Full or Part‐Time:         Full Time# Employees Supervised:   None

Summary
Work with operations on training and testing that is required.  Oversight responsibility for all lab work and safety.  Maximize efficiency of plant operations. 100% Plant Laboratory 
  • Run HPLC, brix refractometer, moisture analyzer, Karl Fisher Collimate tetrameter, specific gravity test, yeast counts, viability, water analyses, plate counts, and other tests as needed or requested.  
  • Run quality control tests on product streams.
  • Establish testing protocols and ensure that test results are repeatable and accurate.
  • Train operators in proper field sample techniques.
  • Compile and Analyze data.
  • Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for supply inventory, requisition and proper disposal as necessary.
  • Keep lab area clean and orderly. 
  • Promote MRE in the community.
 Mandatory Qualifications: 
  • Laboratory operations experience.
 Preferred Qualifications: 
  • BS in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry or related field is desired but is not necessary.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent laboratory experience.

Physical and Workplace Requirements:

  • Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders; work at high elevations and in extreme temperatures.
  • Open and close valves.
  • Walking of two or more miles per day; work in confined spaces.
  • Standing for extended periods of time, often 5+ hours at a time.
  • Bending, twisting, and turning.
