Responsibilities:
  • Teaching a small group of students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, based on their unique abilities, goals, and learning styles.

  • Assess and monitor student progress, collect and analyze data, and provide regular progress reports to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure that students' IEPs are implemented effectively and that accommodations and modifications are provided as needed.
  • Develop and implement behavior management plans, provide counseling and support, and teach social and emotional skills to help students manage their behaviors and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and other support staff working with students with disabilities, and participate in the development and implementation of professional development opportunities related to special education.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to establish positive relationships, promote student advocacy, and ensure that students' needs are met.
  • Stay current with best practices, trends, and research in special education, and participate in ongoing professional development to continuously improve teaching practices.
  • Design and implement project-based lessons that are aligned with the curriculum and educational standards, and cater to the diverse learning needs of K-8 school students.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning, encourages creativity, and promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Guide students through the entire project-based learning cycle, including identifying real-world problems, conducting research, developing solutions, and presenting their findings.
  • Provide clear instructions and explanations, facilitate discussions, and encourage collaboration among students to promote active engagement and participation in the learning process.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to enhance student learning and promote 21st-century skills, such as communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
