PCL’s Cognitive & Behavioral Health Services Department has one opening for a Behavior Professional internally titled the Behavioral Health Assessment Coordinator I (BHAC I). This professional is going to work with people with co-occurring I/DD/Mental Health diagnoses in Jackson & Josephine Counties. This position will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Work emphasis: developing behavioral support documents in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules and principles of positive behavioral support, development and implementation of presentation material, associated research, presentation development, and providing specialized training for staff and people supported.

Location: Grants Pass Administrative Office (with travel to Jackson & Josephine Counties)
Type of Position: Full Time, Salary Exempt

Annualized salary of $50,400. Salary payments are made bi-weekly ($1,938) every other Friday (approx $4,200/month).

*If a fully qualified candidate cannot be secured, consideration may be made for a BHAC-Apprentice position with preference given to those with both a degree and experience as this is a requirement to become a Behavioral Health Assessment Coordinator. BHAC-Apprentice is a full-time/salaried exempt position, $3,800/per month.

Education and Years of Experience Providing Positive Behavior Support Requirements:

(Degrees that Qualify: Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Education, Social Work, or other social or behavioral sciences or the equivalent as evidenced by providing transcripts indicating applicable coursework).

  • BCBA graduate-level certification/ Master's Degree and 1 year of experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience
  • No Qualifying Degree and 6 years of experience delivering Professional Behavior Services gained prior to January 1st, 2023.

General Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old when employment begins.
  • Pass a State/Federal Criminal History Check.
  • Background screening including employment and education history.
  • Pre-employment drug screening (for the use of illegal substances in Oregon).
  • Valid Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.
  • Be able to be certified and maintain certification with First Aid/CPR.
  • Must be able to maintain certification in the Oregon Intervention System (OIS).
  • Pass a pre-employment computer skills assessment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for their assigned area. On a regular rotation, this position is on-call for their assigned area for 7 consecutive days. The on-call schedule is posted 8 weeks in advance.
  • Focused adherence to deadlines regarding all facets of your assigned caseload. Appropriate communication with all affected parties when deadlines must be rescheduled.
  • Review and respond to T-logs, GER’s, and all other report mechanisms as assigned.
  • Must be responsible for keeping track of billable hours for each person supported on your caseload and ensure the hours are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a physical presence in the homes of all caseload support people. Presence includes: staff meetings, training specific, unannounced visits, behavioral support observation time.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as an OIS “Agency” Trainer and complete all accompanying responsibilities.
  • Participate in PCL New Employee Orientation as a trainer on all assigned subject topics as defined by the supervisor/Leadership Team of the Cognitive & Behavioral Health Services Team.
  • Engage in the active advancement of this field by creating, organizing, and presenting content-specific presentations both to internal and external audiences
  • Knowledgeable of and uphold pertinent Oregon Administrative Rules regarding behavior, restraint & Oregon Intervention Systems
  • Provide accurate reports on your caseload and assigned responsibilities through participation in CBHS Team Meetings, and/or, through all communication with your direct supervisor.
  • Constantly strive to promote a positive view of people with Intellectual/developmental disabilities through your words and actions.
  • Promote successful integration for people in the community, with other professionals and with various agencies.
  • Demonstrate tangible support and effort toward community inclusion, person-centered planning approaches and non-punishing living environments.
  • Encourage a positive reputation for PCL and the CBHS team through professional and respectful interactions by building relationships with the people we support, other professionals, groups and agencies.
  • Model at all times the appropriate way to support and communicate with the people we support, regardless of behavioral reactions by the person.
  • Have a firm understanding of Positive Behavioral Support and Behavioral Theory.
  • Constantly assess and provide appropriate person-focused training when needed within your caseload.

*BHAC-Apprentice will be expected to continue to actively work towards becoming a fully qualified BHAC.
