We are currently seeking a detailed-oriented, reliable Payroll Specialist to join our team and support the payroll function for our multi-location restaurant chain.

Job Overview:As the Payroll Specialist at Hwy 55, you will be responsible for managing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees across multiple locations. You will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, maintain employee records, and provide excellent customer service to restaurant managers and staff. This position is key to supporting our HR and Finance teams in maintaining smooth operational processes for payroll, benefits, and related functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and tipped employees across all Hwy 55 locations.
  • Employee Data Management: Maintain accurate employee records in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and other status updates.
  • Timekeeping and Attendance: Review and validate employee timecards, ensuring that hours worked, overtime, and leave time are accurately recorded and compliant with company policies.
  • Compliance and Tax Filing: Ensure payroll is in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including calculating and withholding applicable taxes, benefits, and garnishments. Prepare and submit necessary tax filings.
  • Payroll Reporting: Generate and review regular payroll reports, including summaries of gross wages, taxes withheld, and benefit deductions. Prepare reports for management and auditing purposes.
  • Benefits Administration: Assist with benefits enrollment, deductions, and updates as necessary, and collaborate with HR to ensure benefits are accurately reflected in payroll processing.
  • Employee Inquiries: Respond to payroll-related questions and issues from restaurant managers, employees, and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting for review.
  • Systems Maintenance: Keep payroll software and related systems up-to-date and troubleshoot issues with payroll systems or timekeeping tools.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, etc.) and timekeeping systems.
    • Familiarity with payroll taxes, wage laws, and regulatory requirements (FLSA, FMLA, etc.).
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with an eye for detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Work Environment:
  • Physical Demands: This position may involve sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 10 lbs).
  • Schedule: Standard business hours (Monday-Friday). Occasional overtime may be required during payroll periods.
