The Grant Management Office, Research Financial Analysts (GMO-RFAs) is tasked with providing guidance to faculty regarding NIH, DoD, SoF, and internal and external foundation awards. The GMO facilitates faculty and Leadership with the management and allocation of funds to support the science being conducted in both the lab and clinical trials. In addition, the office ensures that compliance is being met according to sponsor guidelines and that all charges are both allocable and allowable. The office is also tasked with collaborating with the Office of Sponsored Research and Research Finance Office to submit grant proposals and file financial reports at the end of budget and grant periods.   The Research Financial Analyst I manage all phases of research award administration include pre and post award. The primary function of the role is research fund portfolio management, including: budget forecasting, monitoring utilization to ensure fiscal compliance, resolving accounting issues and providing direct financial advisory services. Position Highlights:

 Responsibilities:  
  • Oversee the management of grants/contracts provided by NIH, DoD, State of Florida, Foundations, and Pharmaceutical companies, among other funding sources.
  • Collaborates with Grant Administrators, Principal Investigators (PIs) and other support staff to review/coordinate aspects of grant submission, provide guidance with budget and budget justification.
  • Performs financial analysis on PI portfolio of account and provides guidance on strategic planning to maximize budget utilization in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Develops and monitors spending forecast based on PI planned spending.
  • Reconcile actual spending against approved budget, rebudgeting as necessary and allowed throughout the grant cycle.
  • Partners with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and other department to ensure incurred expenses are liquidated timely for appropriate closeout of all expired projects.
  • Stays current with all new and existing regulatory requirements and institutional policies/procedures, and keeps PIs and department leadership informed of changes.
  • Manages faculty and staff effort appointments by factoring in PI recommendation, budget projections, and award specific effort requirements. Ensures alignment with OMB Circular A-122 and National Institutes of Health (NIH) salary cap guidelines.
  • Manages regulatory compliances with items related to Comparative Medicine, Institutional Review Board (IRB), etc, as it pertains to the funding mechanism
  • Work with Financial Analysis Research Operations for set up and management of operational dollars.
  • Collaborate with Research Division Administration leadership on the initiation of new positions, replacement positions and termination of positions, dependent on funding availability.
 Credentials and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or relevant field is required with at least 1 year of financial (i.e., forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.) experience.
  • Financial (i.e., forecasting, budgeting, analysis, etc.) experience and/or extramural funding (i.e., NIH, State of Florida, Foundation, etc.) management experience is preferred.
