Job Duties:Sample Collection and Processing:
- Collect various specimens from patients, such as blood, urine, or tissues. Prepare and process specimens for analysis.
- Perform a range of complex tests using specialized equipment in areas like hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology.
- Analyze test results and interpret findings.
- Monitor and ensure the accuracy and precision of laboratory equipment. Conduct routine quality control checks.
- Data Analysis and Documentation: Analyze and interpret test results. Maintain accurate records of procedures and results.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Communicate test results to healthcare professionals. Collaborate with the healthcare team for effective patient care.
- Follow established protocols, procedures, and safety guidelines. Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated on advancements in laboratory science.
- Compliance: Clinical Laboratory Scientists are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required training, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.
Job Requirements:
- Chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood gas experience required.
- California Dept. of Public Health (CDPH) License Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology.
- Proof of Current Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
- 1-year of experience working in an acute care facility within the past 6 months preferred.
- Current CPR Card issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Experience in any of the following: RocheC311, Beckmen Culture, DXH 800, Stago Compact, and Iris 2000.
- Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
- Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months.
- Current Annual Health Clearance.
- Reliable source of transportation.
- Possible floating between facilities (separate days).
