Internal Dispensing Pharmacist

                                                                                                                                                        Internal Dispensing Pharmacist  I.          Position Summary:  The Internal Dispensing Pharmacist will participate in developing and implementing clinical intervention strategies designed to optimize medication use and improve patient outcomes in the dispensing location.  This position requires performing medication distribution duties within the pharmacy as well as, preparation of IV admixtures for patients in long term care facilities.    II.        Position Relationships:                                                                                       1.          Assignments from the Assistant Pharmacy Operations Manager.            2.         Reports to the Assistant Pharmacy Operations Manger            3.         Performance evaluation from the Assistant Pharmacy Operations Manager 
                                    III.       Major Position Functions:             1.         Develop and implement clinical intervention strategies for the dispensing location.            2.        Use communication and organizational skills to effectively educate fellow                
                      pharmacy staff and allied health professionals.            3.        Serve as a resource in assessing the significance of clinical issues that occur in the dispensing pharmacy                          and provide leadership in determining the action to be taken.            4.        Communicate professionally with customers concerning medication interactions, allergies, dosing, storage
                      and disposition.            5.        Check new and refill medication orders for interactions, allergies and duplicate therapy.            6.        Answer drug information questions and prepare responses according to established format.                                   7.        Verify final packaged medication product for accuracy and quality.            8.        Supervise pharmacy technicians in the packaging and compounding of medications.            9.        Participate in the determination of, and monitoring parameters of, effective                       medication use such as various laboratory procedures, vital sign monitoring, various assessment tools, 
                      and other documents.           10.       Compile reports as necessary to educate and inform facility staff.            11.       Attend company planning sessions and meetings as scheduled.           12.       Cooperate fully with personnel from other divisions of Neil Medical Group and     Hillco.           13.       Perform other duties as may be required to ensure high standards of professional   practice for the  
                     pharmacy services division.
