Under the direction of the Manager of Buildings and Grounds, Operations Supervisor and in association with the building administrator, and building head custodian, perform cleaning tasks necessary to assure that the building is in a condition consistent with the District standards of cleanliness and safety. The Floater will be available to fill open shifts in other buildings as needed.

This position is stationed at the Middle or High School, but you may be called upon to assist at other district buildings when short staffed.  Perform structured and unstructured cleaning of classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and other school areas, as well as assist the snow removal crew if needed. Participate in summer cleaning of the entire building.

Required Experience or Training:
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent training.
Desired Experience or Training:
  • Work experience with custodial cleaning practices and products.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Physical fitness and mental ability to perform assigned work.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize work while following verbal and written directives.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
