POSITION: After School Care Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Entering at least freshman year in College with knowledge and ability in the Specialty Field.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and guide a group of children in a Specialty area. Specialties may include Drama, PE, Music, STEM, Dance, Rocketry, Robotics, Teambuilding, or Art.
- Embrace and fulfill the JCC's philosophy and objectives.
- Be a positive role model in actions, manners, and language.
- Display enthusiasm, initiative, patience, self-control, and a sense of humor.
- Arrive on time and maintain excellent attendance.
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for planning engaging activities for the group, fostering positive relationships, and promoting participant independence.
- Request needed materials in advance.
- Complete and turn in activity plans 2-3 weeks before weekly activities.
- Supervise the health, hygiene, safety, and personal belongings of participants.
- Assist with all after care Special Events and Staff Orientation.
- Desire and ability to work with all Alper J Staff, guiding counselors in supporting specialty activities.
- Carry out assigned carpool responsibilities.
- Turn in weekly newsletter information.
- Read the Staff Manual, comply with rules and regulations, and cooperate fully with the Youth Director.
- Complete any required grant activities and data collection, if applicable.
- Attend all meetings as directed, including weekly staff meetings.
- Maintain open and positive communication with Unit Supervisor and Youth Director.
- Represent and be an ambassador for the Alper JCC & Youth Department.
- Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Camp Director.
SKILLS:
- Ability to differentiate lesson plans based on the needs of the campers.
- Ability to engage campers through multiple modalities.
- Physical capability to meet the demands of the job.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and energetic work environment.
