- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
- Must have at least Registered Intern status in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family therapy and must obtain license status within three years of hire
- Collects data about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and determines proper therapeutic approaches or referral to other specialists.
- Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to patients as appropriate to the position.
- Prepares treatment and follow-up programs.
- Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
- Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of care provided in the inmate's health record.
- Maintains health services records logs and assists with data entry within the scope of mental health related items.
- Consults with other practitioners and related staff, as appropriate in the performance of therapeutic duties and/or casework.
- Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used and changes methods and degree of therapy when indicated.
- Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.
- Facilitates and participates in inmate educational health programs.
- Participates in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional capabilities and proficiency.
- Answer calls during on-call rotation and may be required to work nights/weekends.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
