Job Responsibilities:
  • Review and clarify the plumbing plans, specifications, and other bid documents prior to finalizing the estimate.
  • Business development by visiting local GC’s and builders.
  • Attend GC/Owner job site meetings and pre-bid walkthroughs as required to fully understand the scope of the project.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of plumbing construction standards plus regulatory requirements for construction and safety.
  • Collaborate with Vendors, subcontractors, customers’ representatives, and the Engineer to resolve all technical issues that will impact the estimate and field operations.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of the scope of the contracts and specifications and ensure our estimates and proposals meet those requirements.
  • Possess the knowledge, ability, and willingness to offer value engineering alternatives to help save the owner costs, make the design better, and secure a profitable project for Southeastern.
  • Design and Build experience to develop accurate estimates that will put us in an advantageous position as the project develops.
  • Actively coordinate the project turnover meeting with the PM; including a detailed review of the estimate, vendor proposals, schedules, subcontractors, other job particulars, etc. At this point, the job is passed to the project manager.
  • Prepare and submit: budget estimates, submittals, and reports as required.
  • Always act in the best interests of Southeastern Plumbing, Heating, and AC Inc.
  • Always set a standard of excellence and integrity.
  • Work with our Project manager to resolve field issues and coordinate our field efforts. This includes coordinating deliveries and creating materials lists on occasion.
  • Collaborate with the PM to schedule the trades and outside service providers to prepare a field construction schedule
  • that optimizes productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Be proactive and take action to prevent schedule delays and cost overruns.
  • Work in concert with the PM and outside service providers to encourage peak performance.
  • Promptly submit the required documentation to protect the company and the customer. Provide timely and complete. information to our PM or others that need this information.
  • When additional work outside the scope of the contract is identified in the field, provide the support needed to compile change orders or complete the change order yourself.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job requirements:
  • Must be a self-starter and take responsibility for the final estimate/proposal.
  • Strong desire and ability to close sales by building solid relationships with GCs, facility managers, and owners. This will require office visits to GC’s and Owner’s places of business.
  • Must be proficient with “FastPipe” or other estimating software as well as Microsoft Office. We use FastPipe for estimating.
  • Business computer skills are required: Email, excel, Bluebeam, PDF, Word documents, etc.
  • Must have 5 years of commercial/industrial plumbing estimating experience.
  • Must have 2 years of “hands-on” commercial plumbing experience or applicable technical/engineering degree.
  • Compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborative with Vendors, subcontractors, customers’ representatives, and the Engineer to resolve all technical issues that will impact the estimate and field operations.
  • Knowledgeable of the scope of the contracts and specifications and ensure our estimates and proposals meet those requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
