Description/Job Summary

Center for Creative Works (CCW), a Progressive Art Studio program, seeks part-time, Teaching Artists / Art instructors to work with talented and dedicated adult, neuro-diverse artists in our location in Wynnewood PA.   We are a studio art program for neuro diverse artists, dedicated to the highest quality of work possible for the artists in this studio. CCW also engages the broader arts community through residencies, workshops, and other forms of collaboration, exhibition and programming. Our studio provides materials and equipment for a wide range of artistic mediums as well as promotion and marketing for our artists. The Art Instructor position at CCW works with small groups of neuro-diverse artists guiding and mentoring. You will engage people in their pursuit to professionally expand their creative skills and build their work and contributions as artists in their communities and beyond.  

At CCW you will have the opportunity to work with interesting, unique artists and makers. You will assist them in the studio through mentoring within your area of expertise and guiding their art making processes. You will work with new artists, exploring different mediums and well seasoned artists with a fully developed body of work and exhibition history. This is a very rewarding position offering ample self-direction and opportunity for input. Position Summary

To provide professional level art mentorship in relevant materials and techniques to neuro-diverse artists in a progressive art studio environment. The art instructor provides direct guidance in the acquisition of artistic skills and development of CCW artists in their work to build an identity, express themselves and engage in the larger community as accomplished artists. Art Instructors work with CCW artists both in the studio and in the community. 

Essential Duties and Functions

  •  Guide CCW artists in the art process, while teaching materials and technique skills. Participate in the creation and development of a curriculum aimed at the education and enrichment of persons served. 
  •  Teach art making and vocational skills. Work individually as needed with persons served in the removal of barriers to learning and in the enhancement of participation in services. 
  • Act as part of a multidisciplinary team with the goal of providing services that are holistic and values based. Manage the art studio materials and create inventories when needed. 
  • Meet as needed with the collateral supports of the person served to provide services in concert with other life goals. Develop volunteers working in the studio. 
  • See to health and safety aspects of studio activity and report health and safety incidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • Complete all daily documentation in a timely manner. Attend staff meetings and bi-annual in-service trainings.
  • Collaborate and oversee efficient organization of the studio, activities, supplies and storage. 
  • At times, accompany small groups (1-3 people) of CCW artists in the community on outings using CCW vehicles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an art field  or HS + 3 years studio practice.
  • 1 year of related experience, in art discipline / personal art practice.
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI check, if applicable.
  •  Driver’s license preferred.
