Special Educator

- Provides educational services in the child’s natural learning environments (home and community settings).
- Utilizes parent coaching approaches (training provided) to build parent capacity for enhancing the daily routines of the child/family.
- Serves as a primary parent coach for assigned cases with support from team members to promote family participation in the child’s outcomes.
- Participates in the development and implementation of services documented in the IFSP.
- Collaborates with members of the multi-disciplinary team, at weekly team meetings (and more often as needed) to provide discipline specific support and information.
- Acts as an educational consultant to staff and parents/families as needed.
- Minimum of BS/BA or MS degree in Early Childhood Development and three years experience in early childhood special education
- Must have a current Washington State Teaching Certificate with Early Childhood Special Education endorsement
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Must have ability to work easily with co-workers, families, and outside agencies in a professional and tactful manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Provide services in natural environments, using a parent coaching model.
- Must possess a valid WA state driver’s license, have state required minimum automobile insurance, and be able to use own vehicle on the job.
