Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts group and individual substance abuse (SA) activities for patients and develops related programs. 
  • Assesses and evaluates patients for co-occurring disorders and determines the level of care required. 
  • Ensures timely completion of all necessary records and reports.  
  • Maintains professional development through in-service education and other resources, while complying with Human Resources requirements.  
  • Shows cultural sensitivity, treating each patient as an individual, and considering their cultural background when providing care and treatment. 

Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related field.
  • Or Certified in the substance abuse field.
  • Or Experience in the substance abuse field.

Experience:
  • Ability to work with computers.
  • Ability to work with software used by the department.
  • Relevant experience in provision of addiction counseling services.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Licensed in an addiction counseling specialty (Certified Addiction Counselor, Registered Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)) certification is strongly preferred.
  • Certified as a Counselor in Training under supervision or licensed in social work, counseling or psychology.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
