Bright Light Academy is seeking an experienced Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two full years of childcare experience & preferably have a passion for early childhood education. Our preschool  program serves potty trained children ages three & four & is designed to help them grow and develop in a nurturing, supportive environment. This teacher  will  work collaboratively with the Pre-K classroom in an effort to prepare their students for the transition to Pre-K.
Responsibilities:
  • Work cooperatively with fellow teachers to implement center's curriculum and create a nurturing & immersive school environment.
  • Help maintain a safe & stimulating classroom for children.
  • Monitor & engage with children during playtime, meals, & other daily routines.
  • Provide individual & group support to children as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about their child's development and progress.
  • Analyze, summarize, & complete developmental assessments using school materials on a trimester basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of child development & age-appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must be patient, nurturing, and able to create a positive learning environment.
  • A CDA certificate or some college credits in child development, early childhood education or children & families

Skills Required:
  • 2+ years of experience in childcare, education, or other work experience with children.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs., see, hear and sit on the floor with children
  • To pass state, federal, and child abuse background checks.
  • To be 18 years or older and legally able to work in the United States.

This is a full-time position.  Pay ranges from $16.00-17.50 per hour (relevant to experience & education), with an increase reflective of performance after completing your first 90 days. Bright Light Academy is open five days a week, but staff work a FOUR-DAY WORK WEEK. Staff receive paid time off, sick days, reduced childcare & more.
