Startech Networks, Inc. is seeking experienced OSP BIC Engineer candidates with US Work Authorization to join our growing team and work in Santa Maria, California. The successful candidates must possess the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below. Selected candidates should have a thorough understanding of various AT&T related OSP Wireline processes and guidelines.

Job Details:
  • In the field, identify lead sheath cables at specific locations identified in AT&T’s GIS system.
  • Environments are Aerial and Buried (No Underground)
  • When on site, the fielder will visually inspect the location for lead sheath cable(s) as follows: Aerial – Cable existence, Broken lashing wires, visible damage to the cable, cable hanging low enough to reach from the ground, unprotected cables (U-guard missing) rising up the pole, Sounding or Prodding the pole to verify pole safety ***  Buried – Cable existence, Buried terminal is not damaged, Remove cover and take a clear photo of cables in the terminal and close terminal without damaging cable pairs.
  • Light remediation while on site includes the placement of a U-guard over exposed / accessible cable. (Approximately 15 minutes) For any item that cannot be fixed on site, a Buried Plant Condition (BPC) must be filled out on line.
  • Photos of the cable and any defects must be taken and uploaded into AT&T site.
  • GPS location must be recorded in the AT&T Site
  • Each site requires a form to be completed in the portal.
  • This consists of 11 questions and takes about 5 minutes or less to complete and upload photos.

Other Details:
  • Each location should be able to be completed in 10-20 minutes with all forms, photos, and remediation as needed. Locations can be clustered together or spread out across a Wire Center.
  • Each OSP Field Engineer will need the minimum PPE (Safety Vest, Hard Hat, 6’ ladder, hammer, Pole Prod or 3 pound sledge hammer, Identification).
  • Each OSP Field Engineer will also need the ability to safely carry all items plus various sizes of 8’ long U-guard and nails provided by AT&T for pick up at various locations.
