Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Shower Room Attendant to join our team at a homeless shelter or community center. As a Shower Room Attendant, you will play a crucial role in providing essential hygiene services to individuals experiencing homelessness, offering them dignity, respect, and support. Your role will involve ensuring the cleanliness and accessibility of shower facilities, as well as providing compassionate assistance to clients in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Assistance: Welcome and assist homeless individuals accessing the shower facilities, providing them with towels, toiletries, and any other necessary items.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Regularly clean and sanitize shower rooms and facilities to ensure they meet health and safety standards.
- Manage Shower Schedule: Coordinate and manage the shower schedule to accommodate the needs of all clients, ensuring fair access to facilities.
- Offer Support: Engage with clients in a respectful and non-judgmental manner, offering support, encouragement, and assistance as needed.
- Provide Resources: Connect clients with additional support services and resources available at the shelter or within the community, such as housing assistance, food programs, and healthcare services.
- Promote Hygiene Education: Educate clients on the importance of hygiene and personal care practices, offering guidance on proper showering techniques and hygiene habits.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Respect the privacy and confidentiality of clients, safeguarding their personal information and respecting their dignity at all times.
- Collaborate with Team: Work collaboratively with other shelter staff members and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of shower facilities and the provision of comprehensive support services.
- Document Services: Maintain accurate records of client interactions, services provided, and any relevant information to track client progress and improve service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals experiencing homelessness,
- with a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with
- clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Basic knowledge of hygiene practices and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and sometimes
- challenging environment.
- Sensitivity to issues of homelessness, poverty, and social justice.
