The Artificial Intelligence Scientist on the product development team develops our AI suite of products. This team is responsible for building production-ready AI products that are optimized for speed, reliability, and scale using PySpark and Python. This role is a combination of machine learning software development and machine learning engineering.

This is a remote position.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide thought leadership with novel approaches to solving new and existing business problems.
  • Support the development of new ML techniques and algorithms through data analysis and proof-of-concepts.
  • Develop production-level machine learning software using PySpark and Python.
  • Convert proof-of-concepts and feature requests into production-ready code.
  • Optimize and transform existing software for speed, reliability, and scale.
  • Integrate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms as well as the development of new methods.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, data engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify gaps and issues in the AI product suite and propose solutions.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, unit testing, and documentation for both new and existing pieces of software.
  • Mentor, guide, and indirectly lead less experienced Artificial Intelligence Scientist peers.
  • Drive innovation by fostering an open, high-energy, collaborative environment; lead participation in innovation summits and expos, recommend relevant training and conferences for employees to attend, publish papers and patent disclosures.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education: Master’s or Ph.D in mathematics, statistics, computer science, computer engineering, operations research, or related field.
  • Minimum Work Experience (years): 12+ years experience in data science, machine learning, or software engineering required.
  • Key Skills and Competencies:
    • Knowledge of statistical programming techniques and languages (e.g., Python, PySpark).
    • Working knowledge of common machine learning and deep learning approaches (e.g., regression, clustering, classification, dimensionality reduction, supervised and unsupervised techniques, Bayesian reasoning, boosting, random forests, deep learning) and data analysis packages (e.g., scikit-learn, Spark MLlib).
    • Prior experience with machine learning packages (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch) and/or optimization packages (e.g., Pyomo).
    • Familiarity with time series forecasting.
    • Retail and CPG industry experience desired.
    • Experience using cloud computing (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
    • Familiarity with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark) and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., MLFlow, Argo).
    • Solid understanding of data structures, object-oriented software design, and architecture.
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative, but also a cooperative team player.

Salary: USD 150400.00 - USD 225600.00 Yearly

Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
