Development Director Job Description
The Development Director should be committed to St. Vincent de Paul School and our mission. The Director will collaborate with the Principal to ensure the long-term stability of the school by fostering relationships and goodwill among the school and parish community, our alumni, and the Federal Way community. The Development Director’s efforts in fundraising, marketing, and advancement should result in increased enrollment and fundraising dollars.
The Development Director has three main areas of focus:
- Coordinating the annual auction
- Marketing our school
- Advancement of the school Endowment
The following is intended as a guideline for the Development Director to be adjusted and updated by the Director and Principal as the year progresses and needs arise.
In coordinating the annual auction, responsibilities for the event include the following:
- Selecting the theme for the next auction
- Working with the selected venue (set-up, dinner selections)
- Working with the selected auctioneer
- Working with Evergreen Event Services for event data input and payments
- Creating and printing of invitations, save-a-date cards, thank you notes
- Soliciting procurements and assisting families with soliciting procurements
- Caring for the storage of procurements
- Contacting current sponsors and new sponsors
- Entering data and items in the auction database and printing reports and bid sheets
- Creating/printing the auction catalogue
- Marketing the Fund-an-Item and auction
- Assisting parents with homeroom projects
- Creating weekly, monthly communication for parents and community
- Attending Parent Meetings as needed
- Coordinating and assisting parent volunteers
- Being available for time needed 2-3 weeks prior to the auction and day of the auction
The Development Director will develop and implement a marketing plan in collaboration with the Principal and School Commission. The plan will include:
- Maintaining and updating the school website, Facebook page, and Instagram
- Updating the “Welcome Video” on the website
- Composing school news in the parish newsletter as needed
- Maintaining and updating school brochures, cards, enrollment posters, advertisements
- Collecting and placing "swag" orders
- Promoting community awareness of our school
Advancement of the school Endowment will include:
- Increasing awareness of the Endowment and its purpose
- Updating Endowment brochure/envelope
- Updating the Annual Fund brochure
- Developing timeline for Annual Fund Promotion
- Sending yearly thank you notes to donors
The Development Director will attend Faculty Meetings, Parent Association Meetings, and School Commission Meetings as needed.
Salary Range: $25-$35/hour, 30+ hours a week. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data and applicant’s skill and prior relevant experience, degrees and certifications.
