1. Clinical Requirements
- Develops an acceptable practice agreement with a collaborating physician.
- Submits proof of the practice agreement with an appropriate physician, licensed to practice in New York State, to the State Education Department within 90 days of employment.
- Utilizes the Scope of Practice for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and Standards of Practice for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, reflecting the scope of practice.
- Maintains appropriate credentials to practice at Trillium Health
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and evaluations to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and considering patients' preferences, cultural background, and psychosocial factors.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring efficacy, side effects, and adherence, while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, medication management, and self-care strategies.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the healthcare team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment approaches.
- Offer crisis intervention and supportive counseling to patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or emotional distress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medication records, in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, clinical meetings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and promote best practices.
- Stay informed about current trends, research findings, and advancements in psychiatric care through continuing education, professional development activities, and participation in relevant conferences or seminars.
- Demonstrate a commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion in all patient care and interactions.
- Miscellaneous
- Requires the ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, races, sexual orientations, and gender identities or expressions.
- The ability to demonstrate teamwork and a commitment to high-quality care.
- Timely documentation, excellent written/oral communication, and computer skills are required.
- Serve as a preceptor for allied health students if requested.
- Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of patient, proprietary, and protected information.
- Employees are accountable for meeting their departments' performance standards. They participate in compliance audits and quality improvement plans.

Qualifications
Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse and current certification through NYS Office of the Professions as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry. National certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) (or other certifying body) is preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred, ideally in an outpatient or community mental health setting. Experience working in substance abuse disorders. Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is preferred.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
