What’s in it for you?

The Chief MEP Estimator has overall responsibility for all aspects of the estimating needs for multiple projects. Senior Estimator and specialty estimators may report to Estimating Executive for specific projects.

You will work under an experienced professional that will provide you with opportunity to learn the department’s standard operating procedures and build strong relationships with the Preconstruction team. You will have a heavy hand in the coordination and supervision of other Estimators and will price/bid projects that shape your community. Responsibilities:

  • Visualize, analyze and communicate project scope of work
  • Coordinate and execute tasks of estimating personnel assigned to a specific estimate.
  • Monitor and follow up on staff’s assigned duties.
  • Coordinate cost/means and methods with Client and design team and prepare preliminary cost estimates/budgets.
  • Work with Design Team to reconcile cost estimates
  • Analyze General Condition costs to determine company overhead
  • Manage Value Engineering Process
  • Provide input for Fee Proposals
  • Prepare all Indirect Costs
  • Review and coordinate project-specific insurance requirements
  • Prepare General Conditions/Site Services Costs
  • Understand all disciplines in estimating
  • Lead staff to assure accuracy in estimating process, procedures and review requirements are met
  • Deliver and present estimates to clients during BD process
  • Ability to sell company’s strengths and experience
  • Ability to preserve/reconcile all aspects of the estimate presentation while in front of a group/with client
  • Review of current MEP Best practices, process and templates and work with peer group to further enhance current standards.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor in Engineering
  • 10-15 years relevant experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of suitable mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractors and suppliers for all types of projects
  • Familiar with both union and merit shop mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractors preferred
  • Knowledge of typical mechanical, plumbing and electrical pricing for project types such as healthcare, life sciences, advanced electronics and similar; for both union and merit shop projects preferred
  • Able to take concept and schematic drawings and develop a meaningful estimate with detail
  • Familiar with the use of On-Screen Take-off software program preferred

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
For California, this ranges from $153,300 to $210,800 plus benefits and retirement program.
