ARPA-H Regenerative Medicine (Osteoarthritis) Technical Advisor

Location: Washington, DC

Req #: 14275

# of openings: 4

ECS is seeking an ARPA-H Regenerative Medicine (Osteoarthritis) Technical Advisor to work in our Washington, DC (Hybrid) office.

Job Description:

Are you a passionate, innovative biomedical engineer ready to tackle one of the biggest challenges in science?

The Novel Innovations for Tissue Regeneration in Osteoarthritis (NITRO) program, a groundbreaking initiative by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), seeks a talented and driven Biomedical Engineer to join our team. In this crucial role, you will serve as the scientific and technical advisor—providing support and thought leadership to the delivery team responsible for research and development for revolutionary approaches to regenerate damaged joints and transform the lives of millions suffering from osteoarthritis.

About the NITRO Program: Osteoarthritis, a debilitating condition affecting millions, currently lacks effective regenerative treatments. The NITRO program aims to change that by supporting the development of injectable therapeutics and bioengineered joint replacements that stimulate the body's natural healing mechanisms. We are pushing the boundaries of science and engineering to make joint regeneration a reality.

What you will do:
  1. Support program managers in development of new research methods, concepts, and operational processes.
  2. Serve as scientific and technical advisor for cutting-edge research projects focused on injectable bone and cartilage regeneratives, or bioengineered joint replacements built from human cells.
  3. Support ARPA-H performers and scientists via your expertise in biomaterials, cell engineering, tissue engineering, human and animal models, and drug delivery systems to develop innovative solutions for osteoarthritis treatment.
  4. Provide strategic assessments of methods and technologies related to the development of in vitro and in vivo models for testing and optimization.
  5. Collaborate with a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and clinicians to translate research discoveries into real-world applications.
  6. Serve as subject matter expert in support of the development of preclinical and clinical research studies to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new therapies.
  7. Play a key role in supporting performers within the field of regenerative medicine for osteoarthritis and impacting the lives of millions.
Required Skills:
  • Hold a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field with a strong focus on regenerative medicine.
  • Public trust security clearance.
  • Possess at least 3+ years of experience in relevant research areas, including biomaterials, cell engineering, tissue engineering, or drug delivery systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, analyze data, and write scientific reports.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with scientists, engineers, and clinicians from diverse backgrounds.
  • Passionate about innovation and driven to make a real impact on human health.
  • Experience with preclinical and/or clinical research is a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.
