Senior Software Engineer (Java/AWS/Scala) (REMOTE)


Optomi, in partnership with an industry leader within the media & entertainment industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for their team This role is remote, but they ask that you live near one of their hubs, but you will be working in PST In addition, this Senior Software Engineer will have a proficiency in server-side Java Virtual Machine programming languages. You will be responsible for delivering code with thorough automated testing, optimize & enhance existing services, and design & implement new solutions.

Experience of the right candidate:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience in highly scalable, distributed software components
  • Proficiency in server-side Java Virtual Machine programming languages, especially Java
  • Proven experience of cloud application architecture and engineering, AWS is preferred
  • Professional experience with Java based web services, RESTful framework and GraphQL, and both relational and non-relational database platforms
  • Experience with large scale distributed system architecture
  • Ability to trace through various services and determine root cause when issues occur
  • Knowledge of common performance issues, as well as a working experience with logs, monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Development/Testing practices and methodologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to lead small projects and platform initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study.

  • Design and implement innovative new solutions.
  • Optimize and enhance existing services to improve performance and functionality.
  • Document changes and new features.
  • Perform code reviews to maintain quality standards.
  • Deliver code that includes thorough automated testing to ensure reliability.
  • Help monitor and support applications in production to maintain high availability and performance.
