About the Role We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Robotics team. You will help build the application systems, integrations, and orchestration that enable robots to operate reliably in production environments. This role is about creating the software that allows robots to perform useful tasks at scale, from coordinating behaviors to integrating with enterprise systems, working closely with robotics engineers, ML engineers, multi‑robot coordination teams and product teams. Responsibilities Own and drive the architecture of critical application systems, integrations, and orchestration frameworks that power production robotics. Identify, propose, and launch high‑impact technical initiatives that improve system reliability, scalability, or developer efficiency. Proactively uncover gaps or opportunities in system performance, architecture, or workflows, and drive solutions from concept to production. Establish engineering standards, best practices, and long‑term technical roadmaps for the robotics application stack. Drive engineering best practices across the team by producing high‑quality, well‑tested, and maintainable code. Work cross‑functionally with robotics engineers, ML engineers, multi‑robot coordination teams, infrastructure teams, and product teams to set technical direction and align long‑term priorities. Mentor and develop engineers across the organization; provide technical leadership through design reviews and hands‑on guidance. Triage product or robotics system issues to ensure reliability of production robotics systems; serve as an escalation point during on‑call rotations, guiding diagnosis and recovery during critical system incidents. Qualifications Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science or related field or equivalent. 7+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong self‑learning and improvement mindset. Strong proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Rust, Python, C++. Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, backend services, distributed systems, and API design. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence technical direction across organizations. Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Experience with CI/CD, AWS, Kubernetes, messaging systems. Willingness to support production operations through an on‑call rotation. Nice to have Experience with integrating robotics platforms, hardware devices, embedded systems, or automation systems. Exposure to automation environments such as warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics. $230,000 – $270,000 a year The above range is the salary range. This position will also provide generous equity.
