We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Business Development Analyst to support our commercial teams across a range of business functions, with a particular focus on business development and project analysis. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong research skills, capable of analyzing high-level business opportunities and providing the Business Development team, including VP of Marketing, VP of Commercial, CEO, and wider business development team with detailed reports to guide decision-making.


This role involves synthesizing large datasets, conducting detailed research, and helping to create formal business development plans for promising opportunities. The individual will also support various special projects and be comfortable working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), though expert-level proficiency is not required.


Key Responsibilities:


Business Opportunity Analysis:

  • Collaborate with the Business Development Team, CEO and Leadership Team to expedite reviews, evaluate and prioritize opportunities, and create summary analyses o Determine, based on initial review, if additional research and detailed analysis is necessary to outline a formal business development plan
  • Assist in the creation of formal business development plans for viable opportunities o Engage in both large-scale data analysis and smaller, more detailed research projects
  • Identify key market trends, customer economics, and size of opportunities in various sectors


GIS:

  • Utilize GIS tools to gather information on prospective business development opportunities
  • Create, collect, edit, convert, and process data using ArcGIS Pro
  • Manage and maintain internal business development opportunity GIS database o Create and produce detailed project maps using ArcGIS Pro to assist in project design and scope
  • Effectively communicate with leadership team using maps and various GIS data


Key Qualifications:


Research-Oriented:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle large datasets and conduct intuitive research on complex, sometimes ambiguous topics
  • Ability to source pertinent information which could be useful for project evaluation o Strong interest in both macro-level industry trends and micro-level project-specific details
  • Intuition to know when research is complete or deeper digging could unlock value for the project


Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability and competency in ArcGIS Pro
  • Training can be provided, though some knowledge of systems is necessary
  • Profound understanding of Geographical Information Systems mapping techniques and cartographic design
  • Candidate should have strong analytical skills, including proficiency in data analysis tools and financial modeling
  • Experience in Microsoft excel, teams, PowerPoint, outlook, and SharePoint

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the energy or related industries o 1+ years of direct work experience using ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience in research, financial modeling, or market analysis is preferred
