The Vice President, Senior Litigation / Bankruptcy Counsel will provide strategic legal advice and leadership in managing complex litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, condemnation matters, and insurance claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in these areas, excellent leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of successful case management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on all matters related to litigation, bankruptcy, condemnation, and insurance.
  • Lead and manage a team of attorneys and support staff in handling complex legal issues and cases.
  • Develop and implement strategies for effective litigation management, including risk assessment, case strategy, and resolution.
  • Oversee bankruptcy proceedings, including creditor negotiations, bankruptcy court hearings, and plan confirmations.
  • Advise on condemnation matters, including eminent domain proceedings, property valuations, and compensation negotiations.
  • Manage insurance claims and disputes, working closely with insurance carriers, brokers, and adjusters.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to align legal strategies with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management and the board of directors on legal matters, risks, and strategies.
  • Stay current with developments in relevant legal fields and industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 15 years of legal experience, with a focus on construction and real estate development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and professionalism.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal cases and proceedings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop junior attorneys.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
