The School of Inclusive Teacher Education invites applications for a qualified rank (non-tenure track) Assistant Teaching Professor in Reading and/or Special Education (i.e., Science of Reading) to start August 2026.Applicants should have experience with evidence-based literacy instruction and expertise in areas such asreading disabilities and dyslexia, assessment, and intervention. This is a nine-month appointment with theoption to teach in the summer for extra compensation. The School of Inclusive Teacher Education supports the Universitys initial teacher licensure programs whichspan grades PreK-12 and graduate programs in Special Education, Reading, and Curriculum and Teaching. TheGraduate Reading programs lead to an Ohio K-12 reading endorsement and a Master of Education degree. The mission of the School of Inclusive Teacher Education is to build and sustain a dynamic, collaborativecommunity of highly skilled teachers for all levels of education, thereby increasing graduates options and thoseof their students for lives as independent, productive, and contributing citizens. The School is committed torigorous scholarship, innovative teaching and learning, and civic and professional engagement that places highvalue on the diversity of individuals and communities in a global society. There are approximately 2000 undergraduate students and more than 500 graduate students in seven initial licensure programs and fourgraduate programs, with numerous endorsements and certificates. These programs are guided by nearly fifty full-time faculty and staff. Teach four courses per semester in Reading and/or Special Education. Courses could include assessment, comprehension/vocabulary/writing, individualized program planning (e.g., IEP, RIMP) in the School of Inclusive Teacher Educations undergraduate programs with possible opportunities for teaching in the Graduate (K-12) Reading Program. 2. Participate in student advising and collaborate in program development. 3. Contribute to the school, college, university, and the profession through service activities. Minimum Qualifications 1. Masters degree (or higher) in Reading/Literacy, Elementary Education, Special Education, or closelyrelated field with a focus on reading. 2. A minimum of three years professional experience providing reading instruction to K-12 students (e.g.,classroom teacher, special education teacher, reading specialist, or other related service provider ineducational settings) or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience teaching at the college level in multiple modalities (e.g., in-person, online). 2. Experience providing data-driven (e.g., progress monitoring, diagnostic assessment) reading intervention to upper-elementary students using evidence-based and explicit instructional practices. 3. Experience with MTSS (e.g., Tier 3 intervention), and/or developing and monitoring intervention plans(e.g., IEPs, RIMP).
