Heavy Civil Superintendent - Tampa Metropolitan Area


Venda Search are proud to be partnered with a leading contractor who are seeking an experienced Superintendent to work on multiple sites in the Tampa Metropolitan Area on major roadway and highway projects with FDOT as well as local cities, counties and municipalities

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of heavy civil construction projects, including roadways, highways, expressways, and turnpikes.
  • Coordinate and manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Lead on-site project meetings and maintain open communication with project management, inspectors, and clients.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot on-site challenges and provide quick, effective solutions to keep the project moving forward.
  • Work closely with FDOT officials to ensure all project specifications and guidelines are met.
  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a positive work environment and supporting career development.


Candidate Skills:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a proven track record in managing heavy civil construction teams.
  • Extensive experience in roadway and highway construction, with knowledge of FDOT project requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple subcontractors and materials suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and keep the project on track.
  • Strong focus on safety, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on roadways, highways, and infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience as a superintendent on FDOT projects or similar large-scale infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction best practices, safety protocols, and federal/state regulations.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
