A large employee owned engineering and construction organization is looking for Field Geologist to join their team in Denver, CO. The primary duties of this position include a range of scientific, monitoring, and testing services for a variety of environmental projects at locations such as landfills, industrial facilities, power stations, abandoned and operating mines, and communities impacted by emerging contaminants (e.g. PFAS). This position requires a versatile professional that is eager to learn and values the opportunity for professional development through a variety of project assignments. The position will require frequent travel/field-work (90%) along the Front Range and less frequent travel to other Colorado and surrounding state areas. In the role of Geologist I/II, we'll count on you to:
- Help design and conduct field studies and be responsible for data collection, compilation and analysis for a variety of geology and/or hydrology-related projects.
- Complete geologic logging of borings and monitor well drilling followed by conversion to electronic boring logs.
- Complete groundwater sampling including coordination with laboratories, data analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic testing and analysis.
- Develop groundwater contour maps.
- Assist with troubleshooting issues that may arise in the field. Communicates issues in a timely manner to team members and supervisor.
- Draft technical memos and reports.
- Prepare environmental permit documents on behalf of clients for regulatory agency compliance, coordinate and complete permitting project.
- Maintain environmental databases.
- Develop Geographic Information System (GIS) projects and coverages in Arcview/ArcGIS.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
- Work both independently on small projects and as part of larger project teams to assist senior personnel.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or closely related field.
- 1+ year of professional experience as a hydrogeologist, geologist or closely aligned profession.
- Demonstrated experience drilling wells and groundwater sampling.
- Demonstrated basic working skills with GIS, Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures).
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to travel, including (periodic) full weeks in hotels.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
