Job Description

The Chubb North American Marine Claims team services several business units within Chubb, with books of business involving large Ocean Marine, Inland Marine programs written on various Chubb or manuscript policies. The claim profiles range from first and third party claims including Motor Truck Legal Liability, Warehouseman's Legal Liability, Contractors' Equipment, Personal Property in Transit, Marina Property, Air Freight Liability, and others.

This position will directly manage the claims occurring on Marine books of business, within the Property Claims discipline.

Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze first reports to determine nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of damage.
  2. Promptly contact insured and claimants.
  3. Promptly and properly develop the file to provide accurate and timely investigation and loss analysis.
  4. Maintain an active diary and monitor diary to achieve timely development of file and timely disposition of the claim.
  5. Recognize and pursue recovery where possible.
  6. Adhere to all statutory regulations and unfair claim practices act.
  7. Establish accurate and timely reserves.
  8. Effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.
  9. Participate in the maintenance and renewal of accounts.
  10. Deliver agreed upon claim service to clients and brokers in a timely and professional manner.
  11. Foster relationships with clients, brokers and insurance carriers.
  12. Participate in regular file review discussions to update participants on large claims.
  13. Determine claims and reporting preferences, options and infrastructure to provide the most efficient delivery of service.
  14. Monitor and maintain data integrity, especially with claims coding.
  15. Work closely with management on the delivery of claim service to meet client expectations.

Qualifications

Education: College degree preferred or equivalent in education and experience.

Competencies/Tech Skills:

Candidate must have proven technical knowledge in the investigation and analysis of Marine Claims, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the handling and/or supervision of Marine Claims. This would include knowledge of insurance contracts, industry trends, and severity and a strong knowledge of Chubb's systems, procedures and philosophy. Candidate must demonstrate an ability to work in a collaborative fashion with a wide spectrum of people, develop and maintain strong business relationships within Claims and with underwriting partners. Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator with a strong ability to address diverse audiences. Candidate must be both service and results driven, highly analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to make timely and appropriate decisions. The aptitude to share and impart knowledge within a team environment is essential. Advanced organizational and time management skills required. Ability to accept new challenges in a continued changing business environment required. Ability to coordinate, deploy and deliver claim service. Apply strategic, proactive and innovative skills to develop creative solutions and resolve problems to achieve desired business results.

If you do not already have one, you will be required to obtain an applicable resident or designated home state adjusters license and possibly additional state licensure.
